If you read my full PR pitch you’ll get the low down of how I went from being a Stay-at-home-mum (SAHM) to becoming the Marketing Mentor I am today.

What you won’t get in any detail is the time, effort and continued perseverance I gave (and continue to give) to achieve this.

I needed a Positive Mindset, Clarity of my goals, a Strategy in place, AND a plan of Action to get there.

I wasn’t just a SAHM – with 3 kids at 3 different schools, I was also working part-time as a Marketing Consultant, but the leap from that to where I am now has been massive!

It’s been tiring at times, overwhelming, hard, relentless, I’ve felt like I’m failing, I’ve felt that I ‘should’ be good at all things in my business, I’ve felt old and not ‘with it’ and I’ve wanted to throw in the towel many times!

But I didn’t – I kept going.

I knew my strengths, I felt a strong pull to carry on with my mission – To make Marketing Simple!

But I still felt disconnected in some way and I couldn’t pull it all together.

Then I reconnected with an old friend, who just happens to be a top Motivational Speaker, visibility specialist and The Queen of Being Seen – Jenny Kovacs.

As we talked personal journeys over the last 20 years or so, I asked her perspective on my dilemma.

Jenny told me about her ‘Golden Thread’ idea  how you can identify what runs through everything you do. She also suggested I read the book StrengthsFinder* and take the Assessment that you get with it.

So I did.

I couldn’t wait for the book though and I ordered the Kindle version – so I would get the code to access to the Assessment straight away.

It was the best use of 40 or so minutes of my time so far this year – other than speaking to Jenny of course!

I was delighted but not really that surprised to learn…

…my strengths are Positivity, Strategy, Activator and Input*

But something happened when I found this out – because instead of trying to get better at the things I found hard, I realised that;

Working with your strengths is the best thing you can do!

Plus you can always outsource the things that you don’t enjoy or do well – and I do – like cleaning, accounts and working out tricky technical sales funnels!

I realised it’s also the way I work – with all my clients and it’s my Golden Thread – that runs through everything I do and have ever done.

I’d even posted about it before and with this image.

As I write this blog, ready to put out on the 1st July – it’s a poignant day for me because I am story 116 , on day 116 (out of 365) – the 1st July in the book SheCan365.

SheCan365 is 365 stories of women who through adversity, determination or sheer will have proved that anything is possible.

I finished my story with;

“I believe that most women have a business inside them, it’s all about identifying what it is you want to do and then coaxing it out.  I’m living proof that it’s never too late to follow your dream and do something you love”

I still believe this today and always will.

* For more info on finding out your Strengths and who you can make them work for you, – go to StrengthsFinder it’s amazing value and was so enlightening for me! I’ve since ordered the book too as I love having actual books, but you can get the Assessment with the Book or Kindle Purchase.
